Having a weekend tournament here at home was a changeup from years past, as was fishing Winnebago in Summer. Trouble finding quality fish was not, as that dogged FVBC again. Green water, wind on day one, a launch switch on day two and boat troubles turned out to be other challenges faced by some anglers. Oh- and our scale hit the pavement too, midway through the weigh-in. Good thing Steve had a good hand scale on board, which is able to weigh whole bags of fish. However it made for a very interesting situation. Our club scale is always set to weigh in pounds/tenths/hundredths. Steve's scale only weighs in pounds/ounces. Dan and Tom took 3rd with 12.06 lbs. Brian and Greg also took 3rd but there is no way of knowing for sure if their weight was more, less or equal to Dan and Tom's. Theirs was the first to be weighed on Steve's scale. It came in at 12 lbs and one ounce. Both scored limits and a tie was the only fair way to call it. 2nd went to Clyde and Rudy. They had 6 for 13.13. Team Huston secured first with 6 for 15.96. Big bass was a beautiful 5.81 lb LM boated by Brad. That easily takes over BB honors for the year.
Day two: 3rd went to Brian and Scott. They had 6 for 11.56. 2nd was Virgil and guest with 6 for 12.19. The Huston's did it again, winning it with 6 for 13.44. Big bass went to Virgil and guest, weighing 3.13.
Totals on day one were 40 bass weighing 88.75 lbs. Day two saw 40 fish again but for 77.39 lbs.
All sorts of patterns emerged: Drop shotting, jigs, worms, trees, weeds beds, docks, topwater, etc.... There were lots of ways to catch fish, both LM and SM. It really was a great weekend. We had a lot of fun and there are plenty of stories that will undoubtedly be told in the years to come.
The standings really got shaken up, and things got a lot tighter. Going into T8 on Big Green will be exciting, as the top places and TOC tickets are on the line.
Good luck to everyone finishing out a great year!!
