As we close out 2013 fishing season, let me say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all the members and their family's. We hope to see you all back in 2014 for a new year of competitive bass fishing.
Brian reported that we covered the club and banquet costs for the year and remain in the black, starting 2014. It was reiterated that all members must pay club dues before the January meeting to accumulate meeting points from September thru December, 2013. Club dues are $30. There is also a optional $10 big bass pot. (Big bass pot is payed to the member that had payed the $10 entry fee prior to the start of the tournament season and more importantly, catches the heaviest weight bass(Small Mouth or Large mouth) during the course of the 8 tournament season.)
A lengthy discussion on membership followed. Do we want to limit the size of the club to a specific number of members? The members agreed that 30 members would be the maximum on a show of hands vote. Over that number we start to limit the number of lakes that would be suitable for upwards to 15 teams. Along with the size of the club was a further discussion on boat owner vs non-boat owner members. A number of ideas were discussed to ensure all members are able to enjoy the fishing experience. Club exposure in recruiting new members was another topic that generated a lot of discussion.
We ended to night with the usual fish stories section of the program. Bass fishing secrets where hard to come-by, but a number of members fishing styles were shared.
Next Fox Valley Bass Club meeting is January 15, 2014. Member, Tom Luba is on the program for the January meeting. Luba will explain the process he uses to make bass fishing jigs.
February Fox Valley Bass Club meeting is February 19, 2014. Member, Greg Raith wants to "talk hooks". Bring your favorite style hook or your least favorite style and see what Greg and others have to say.
