I found on bass resource.com that a very inexpensive way to save your fish in the event of a live well pump failure, if low oxygen is a threat, is to add Hydrogen peroxide to your live well. The key is to add 1 ounce of hydrogen peroxide to every three gallons of water. So 1oz:3gal, 2oz:6gal, 3oz:9gal, 4oz:12gal, etc. I've never needed to do this(knock on wood), but I'd try it if my pump failed and my fish looked sick, and I needed to get my fish back to the weigh in. Plus having hydrogen peroxide on board would enhance any medical procedures(emergency hook removal) and help prevent infection...in case you needed another excuse to buy a bottle for the boat.
