Many great points Dan and David. I for one, never thought of guys having to schedule vacation in January, guys wanting to limit the family time lost to fishing club tournaments, and guys just wanting to escape their lives for a weekend. Very understandable. We all have our issues. I agree with Dan about possibly scheduling some tourneys on Sunday. Why not if it works? Another great point Dan makes is having one 2 tourney weekend within 150 mi radius for those who want to getaway, and have one 2 tourney weekend close to home. That way those who don't want to spend a ton on gas, get a hotel, or camp, can commute. I'm glad we are FINALLY discussing this, instead of "that's just the way we've always done it". I'm glad you shared Dan. I think we all just think about ourselves when it comes to these issues, and its good to hear reasons behind the thoughts. Lets keep the thoughts coming...Wednesday is fast approaching.

I definitely would vote for having a couple tournies on Sundays. When I brought up the Sunday issue when I first joined the club it was stated that typically Saturdays are nominated to keep sunday open in case we have need to cancel. That being said, in the seven years I have been a member we have had one postponement due to weather. Maybe it is time to re-visit the possibility of scheduling some Sunday events. Good thoughts Dan. I also would like to expand on some of your other points. Every member should be able to feel free to voice their opinions on this forum without worrying about repercussions from fellow members. Everyone's opinion is very valuable. Your suggestion of a 2-day event closer to home is super. If someone has a conflict on one of the days, they wouldn't have to struggle over the idea of driving 2 or 3 hours for a one day tourney or just forget it all together. I am also hoping that having discussions like this will encourage our newer members to feel welcome to participate and so they know their opinions are also relevant. The season is almost here. WOO-HOO!!!

I wonder why we have the lake selection in March? Vacation time planning is often required by your employer at the beginning of the year. If the members want to plan their vacation time around club tournaments, wouldn't it be helpful to have the date and lake selection prior to January of the next year? Say at the October or November meeting.

Yes it would help a lot for me to move it into October ,or November, . I think the reason it was in March is so the club could plan around open tourneys and B.A.S.S tourneys.Cause opens are not out i think till January or so.

I think Virgil is right. In fact the Winneconne/Omro Opens just got permits last week. With all the different tourney circuits now, and the application process, the schedule gets finalized a lot later. I guess we just need to decide how much of an issue or conflict would arise if we make our schedule earlier.

Aren't the open tourneys generally on, or around the same weekend every year? Also, couldn't we just steer clear of large water if we think its a possible B.A.S.S. tourney weekend? I think it would be SO BENEFICIAL to pick our weekends BEFORE our members need to request vacations and days off.
